THE SAD STORY OF OUR BROTHER PROFESSOR MARSHALL BANKS
On Friday, January 13, 2012 Professor Marshall Banks
accepted that he, “having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable
by a court of the United States, namely, theft or bribery concerning programs
receiving federal funds, did conceal the same by receiving and re-distributing
grant funds to be misappropriated, and did not as soon as possible make known
the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the
United States, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 4.”
Here at “The Capstone,” there is a tradition of playing fast
and loose with established traditions in Academe. We tend to “wing it” when it
comes to matters of established norms. The dangers of this approach do not
become evident until we carry over this “fuzziness” into other realms. Our
brother took this “fuzziness” into the world of public finance; and he fell
flat on his face.
